About

Hi, I’m Vikkie Lee. A multitasking Yorkshire lass who loves getting her hands dirty either in the kitchen, my workshop or on many muddy dog walk.

In 2014, my fiance and I bought the cheapest house in a nice area with the intention of renovating it as we went.

After a few months of decorating too many rooms at a time, I lost motivation and turned to sharing my favourite healthy family meals as a form of escapism instead.

With a house not being renovated and my food blog, Tastefully Vikkie becoming increasingly popular, my fiance reminded me that if I put just as much energy into renovating as I did with my food blog, it would be finished by now.

Although it wasn’t what I wanted to hear, I compromised by sharing my renovation projects on a new blog and YouTube channel, The Carpenter’s Daughter. To my surprise, my basic phone videos were proving even more popular than the time spent on my food blog.

Unknowingly, it marked my path, allowing me to be down to earth Carpenter’s Daughter I am. And it encouraged me to finish our house and still enjoy a hearty meal at the end of a hard day’s work.

Since then, my food blog is busier than ever, I’ve won UK DIY blogger awards for sharing video tutorials with over 50k subscribers and have been featured on:

  • BBC’s Right on the Money and
  • Become the resident carpenter on ITV’s Love Your Weekend With Alan Titchmarsh
